AGS is now offering a Strategic Planning Creation and Training consulting engagement product to help growers define, clarify, and educate their organization on a strategic plan tailored for their business.

In this service AGS consultants will work with your leadership team and key managers through a series of meetings, surveys, and collaborative working sessions to bring out what defines your vision, mission, strategic objectives and key result areas and the key performance metrics that will be used to track them. Further we will help you define the ‘system for managing’ for your business – the key meetings, roles, and data reports needed to insure the tactical decisions line up with the strategic plan.

 How It Works

Through a series of meetings, surveys, visits, and collaborative guided exercises you and your key employees will go through 4 phases of building out your strategic plan.

Each phase has specific sessions, data to review, exercises and outputs that are used and built upon in the subsequent sessions.

Strategic Planning Engagement Phase 3 – System for Managing

This will be a 2-to-3-day dedicated workshop building on what was learned and decided in the first 2 workshops. The system for managing will specify and clarify organization roles, responsibilities, and decision-making framework.  Further we will define core values and a business value proposition.

Strategic Planning Engagement Phase 4 - Rollout Plan and Execution

In these key meetings, also 2-to-3-day workshops, we will tie everything together and identify the key regular cadence of meetings required to implement and operate according to the newly defined strategic plan. This would include which meetings need which data/metrics and at what frequency. Further basic agendas and responsible parties would be defined.

What does it cost?
Big name consulting companies can charge 100’s of thousands of dollars for this type of work. And many of those don’t have the key experience and capabilities related to our industry that we do with this potent offering. For a modest size grower, we will customize a quote for this offering, and it will be far less than the big-name consulting players. Ultimately the price is influenced by the size and complexity of your operation and amount of tailoring needed to our system. Our team will work with you to design an engagement price that is fair and reasonable to get the strategic plan you need for your business.
Grandpa didn’t use a strategic plan so why should we now that we are taking over the business?
Many grower businesses are family operations that pass from one generation to the next. The forebears typically had very good intuitive wisdom on running the operation no doubt and didn’t use many analytical tools and management systems like we can today. But those were simpler times. We live in a more complex and nuanced time where alignment across employees is more critical than ever to achieve business goals and needed efficiencies. Growers need ways to set goals and performance standards, delegate and then have methods of accountability to those goals and objectives. This is precisely what a strategic plan will do. Further, having and iterating a strategic plan increases the value of your business and honors, in a modern way, the heritage of family businesses that pass through the generations.
